BOARD OF DIRECTORS - 2008-2009

OFFICERS :

President – Carol MacIntosh

 

Preside at all Board and Membership meetings

Call special meetings

Appoint all Committee Chairmen in consultation with the Board members.

Effect strict adherence to these Bylaws and Centre rules.

Effect all orders and resolutions of the Board.

Serve as ex-officio member of all committees.

Set the agenda for all meetings.


Vice President – Linda Campanelli

 

Assist the President in his or her duties.

Act as President in the absence of the President, exercising the powers and duties of that office.

Chair of the Educational and Games Committee


Secretary - Liz Challoner

Record the minutes of all transactions at such meetings.

Maintain records of Board and Membership meetings and financial reports.

Notify the Centre Membership of Annual and Special Membership meetings.

Maintain and update the legal documents of the Centre


Treasurer -  Ross Staples

Receive and deposit all funds received by the Centre.

Disburse funds of the Centre as authorized by the Board of Directors

Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions of the Centre.

Report on the financial condition of the Centre at each Board Meeting.

Present a report at the Annual Membership Meeting covering the Centre's financial status and major transactions of the previous year

Present the budget for the following year at the Annual Membership Meeting.


Club Manager - Kathy Morrison

Conduct all business with the ACBL (American Contract Bridge League) and the CBF (Canadian Bridge Federation)

Ensure that all Centre games are conducted within ACBL rules and guidelines.

Schedule all special Bridge Centre games.

Transmit ACBL fees and records of ACBL master points earned by members.

Update Centre and ACBL Members' master point records periodically to assure fair and accurate handicap and stratification assignments.

Ensure the game results are transmitted to local paper The Standard.

Report monthly and year-to-date game attendance to the Board and recommend actions to improve game participation.

Report on game attendance at Annual Meeting.



Social Chair - Lorna Johnson

Organize all social events

Arrange for members’ assistance with food and beverages at Social Events


House (Facility) Chair - Lane Byl

Ensure that the playing facility is kept in first class condition

 Arrange for repairs and routine maintenance to equipment, appliances and HVAC system

 Liaise with Landlord for any issues or problems regarding the facility


Memberships - Pat Teeter

Maintain an up-to-date list of all Centre members

 Co-ordinate collection of annual membership fees in March and issue free plays

 Encourage and assist members with joining the ACBL


Advertising Chair - Denyse Brochu

Publicize the Centre's activities in local media

Arrange for publication of daily game results in local newspapers

Promote and advertise beginner's lessons in places likely to attract new members
